Prinsessa ja Halkomakone/ The Princess and a Log Splitter (2021)

Teokseni on fantasiaa, mutta totta.
Sen kautta pohdin minulle jätettyä perintöä ja omaa suhdettani siihen. 

Olen viettänyt elämäni lähes jokaisen kesän joko rankametsällä, puunhalonnassa tai liiterissä pinoamassa polttopuita. Olen oppinut tuntemaan puun niin, että osaan arvata, miten se käyttäytyy halkomakoneessa.  Prinsessa ja halkomakone on mielikuvituksen totuuden dokumentaatio. Isin pikku prinsessa tekee joka kesäistä työtä halkohäkeillä, jotka jäivät isältä kesken. Vaikka puita ajaa liiteriin joka kesä, koko kesän, puun määrä on vakio.

Teos kuuluu Turun kaupungin kokoelmiin.

This work is fantasy, but it’s also true. Through it, I reflect on the legacy left to me and my relationship with it.

I have spent almost every summer of my life either in the forest, chopping wood, or stacking firewood in the woodshed. I have learned to know wood so well that I can guess how it will behave in a log splitter. Princess and the Log Splitter is a documentation of the truth of my imagination. The little princess helps her father with the annual tasks around the woodpiles that he never finished. Even though wood is hauled into the woodshed every summer, all summer long, the amount of wood remains the same.
